Winter Wellbeing

Hi everyone, this will be my last blog of 2020.  In a lot of ways, the year has seemed to drag, but also, I cannot believe we are just a week shy of Christmas.

I want to take this opportunity to remind everyone (myself included) of the need to keep in touch
with others over the next few weeks.

It’s going to be a strange time, and there will be people who will be isolated and very lonely due to the restrictions we have now, and those arriving in
the next week or two according to the press today.

This means, for some people, not being able to spend time with their families or grieving for friends or family members who may have passed. With this in mind, can I ask a favour?

Please send a colleague a text or give them a quick call over the Christmas period, just to check in with them, and make sure they have that sense of connection to other people at this time of year.

In the same breath, if you feel yourself that you are struggling and need some support, please
don’t be embarrassed or afraid to ask for help.

Please feel free to call me or one of our Mental Health First Aiders for a virtual chat and coffee.

I wish you all a safe and peaceful break – let’s hope for some dry weather so we can get outside in the fresh air, as well as enjoying our selection boxes and mince pies! Time is our most precious resource, and I thank you for the time you have dedicated to Scouting.

This past year, you have all been amazing adults in unprecedented circumstances. We know how hard it has been for all of us, and it’s very much appreciated. You all deserve a break and time to relax.

Merry Christmas and Happy  New Year in 2021.
