Be the Lead to WSJ Poland 2027!

Gloucestershire Scouts are planning (subject to sufficient spaces being made available to the UK) to send an entire unit of 36 young people and four adults to the 26th World Scout Jamboree in Poland in 2027. 

The Jamboree is the biggest international event in the World Scouting calendar, where over 40,000 Scouts worldwide meet, learn about new cultures, participate in many new activities, and have fun together. This opportunity is very rewarding for all involved, young people and Adult Volunteers alike, and we are looking for an inspiring individual to be the Team leader delivering this exciting opportunity. 

The ability to demonstrate the following essential qualities is vital for this Team Leader role:

● Be committed to Youth Shaped and inclusive Scouting
● Be passionate about International Scouting and its benefits
● Be a decisive leader whilst being an integral part of a leadership team with the ability to delegate and manage a team accordingly
● Have a positive mindset and ability to deliver solutions to challenges
● Have the ability to work with decisions which are out of your control and lead through situations which you may not fully agree with
● Be physically and mentally fit to deliver an outstanding experience for all involved
● Competent time management abilities and working to short notice deadlines
● Be a constant role model and lead by example.
● Excellent communication skills, both with YP and adults.
● Be over 18, with a Volunteer role in Gloucestershire Scouts.
● Be prepared to make this position your primary Scouting role from September 2024 – 31st Dec 2027

Alongside the above qualities, the Team Leader should meet any other expectations described in the Role Description and Summary below, alongside the following Personal development requirements: Getting Started training and the relevant wood badge (formal training recognition) must be completed. The Scouts’ Safety, Safeguarding and recognised First Aid ongoing learning must be maintained. The role holder must hold or gain a Scouts’ Nights Away permit (Campsite level).
