Sharing Skills

Instructions
  • This activity gives you a way to cover requirement 4 of the plan badge for each section.
  • Get the young people to think about how they want to share their knowledge. Ask them how they learn best.
    • Visually (poster, video, powerpoint?)
    • Verbally (video, recording, in person?)
    • Written (instruction book?)
  • Get them to decide what they would like to share – this can be done in groups using tools such as a ‘cool wall’, washing line or snowball fight to generate ideas.
    • BEAVERS – what games do they enjoy and would like their game to be like?
    • CUBS – What badge will the activity go towards?
    • SCOUTS – What badge and how long will it take (how many sessions)?
    • EXPLORERS – What would be exciting to people not in Scouts? Think about what they were most interested in doing when they joined.
  • Create the materials to share the game/activity
    • The young people should choose the method of production.
    • Make sure everyone is involved in a way they want to be – use their strengths.
    • Break into groups if it is easier.
    • Not everyone has to do it the same way!
  • Share, share, share!
  • Social media, emails, websites. Send it in to to get it put on the County Website!
Prompting questions
  • How do you learn?
  • What do you enjoy doing?
  • What skills do you think your friends need to learn?
