Gloucestershire Scouts – St. Georges Day Art Competition

This year to celebrate St. George’s Day, we ran a Art Competition for all ages. We had some brilliant entries and the winners have been chosen. Check out the amazing works of art, many made from recycled materials.

Beavers (Aged 6-8yrs)

1st Place

George (7) from Clearwell and Sling Beavers in the Forest of Dean. George used old sheets, dressing up clothes, rocks, sticks and fruit.

2nd Place

Thomas from 1st Warden Hill Beavers in Cheltenham. This was made from recycled materials including, boxes, tubes, packaging, tin foil and tissue paper.

3rd Place

Elias from 1st Woodmancote Beavers in Tewkesbury. This was made from recycled materials including, boxes, tubes, packaging, tin foil and tissue paper.

Cubs (Aged 8-10yrs)

1st Place

Rowan from 1st Dursley Cubs in Cotswold Vale. She made a dragon out of cardboard to attack a monster bird made out of plastic and other recycling.

2nd Place

William from Clearwell and Sling Cubs in the Forest of Dean. William made a ‘junk model’ of St George and the Dragon.  He used toilet rolls, egg boxes, cardboard boxes and paper machete to create his model.

3rd Place

Jenson from Clearwell and Sling Cubs in the Forest of Dean. This flag creation was supported by a brilliant smile!

3rd Place

Sean from 1st Aylburton & Lydney Cubs in the Forest of Dean.
Sean firstly designed the shield from images on internet, his dad then helped him to create the drawing in “Inventor”.

He then helped to set up a  laser engraver to engrave the shapes.
Once the shield was cut out and the patterns etched, Sean then used a Dremmel to create the dragon.
He finished off sanding the edges of the shield and painting the cross.
