Cal and Ruth joined us as the Cranham Centre Managers in 2017. They have taken the decision to now embark on a well-deserved retirement; Ruth retired at the end of March and Cal is stepping down at the end of July and we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for their countless contributions to the running of Cranham.
When they joined us, they brought with them a wealth of experience, a keen intellect and a contagious passion for excellence. From the moment they arrived, it was clear that they were not just going to ‘do a job’ but they were here to make a difference. And what a difference they have made! Throughout their time with us they have demonstrated the qualities that define true management. Their expertise, vision and unwavering commitment to the centre has been instrumental in shaping the changes that we have been making. Whether leading projects, forging strong partnerships with groups using the centre or working with our committed volunteers, they have approached each and every challenge with a determination to get things done.
Their integrity, compassion and genuine concern for others who come to stay and/or visit the centre has made them not just respected colleagues but also cherished friends. The seeds of wisdom that they have planted will continue to bear fruit.
As we bid farewell to them, we do so with a mix of sadness and gratitude. Sadness because we will miss their daily presence. Gratitude because we have had the privilege of working alongside them where the values of resilience, integrity, co-operation and respect could be seen in action.
Cal and Ruth, as you embark on this new chapter of your life, we wish you all the joy, fulfillment and adventure that retirement has to offer. May you both find new passions to pursue, new horizons to explore and new memories to create with those you love. We hope that you will look back on your time with us at Cranham with a sense of pride, knowing the impact that you have made in the lives of so many adults and young people.
