SUMMARY:Outdoor Climbing Day for Experienced Climbers
DESCRIPTION:This day is for Explorer Scouts and older Scouts who are experienced climbers only. They must be working towards NICAS level 4 or be at an equivalent level. If you’re not sure then please email climbing@gloucestershire-scouts.org.uk and ask. \nWe plan to spend the day sport climbing\, developing some of the skills needed to do so as well as getting plenty of climbing done. \nWe intend to have at most eight participants with at least two instructors so the day can be tailored to the participants. \nThe cost for the day is £36 including all necessary equipment and transport. \nFor more information and to sign up\, please use this link.

DESCRIPTION:The Gloucestershire Scouts Bushcraft and Survival Skills Team would like to invite you to the Scout Survival Skills Activity Badge Course Weekend. The venue is TBC but will be in the Wilds of South Gloucestershire! \nParticipants will need to be 12yrs+ \nSign up here: [LINKTO FOLLOW] \nYoung people taking part will complete the Survival Skills Scout Badge requirements. In addition\, previous attendees have learned how to: \n\nUse a life raft and practise sea survival techniques\nReceive expert outdoor First Aid training from a paramedic\nExplore wildlife management and learn deer preparation\nPrepare and cook squirrel and fish for food\nApply basic physics by designing and setting food traps\nSample emergency rations and dehydrated supplies\nPurify water\, carve wood\, and bake bread on hot stones\nIdentify and safely eat wild foods such as raw nettles\nSignal for rescue using flares and signal mirrors\nMaster fire lighting through repeated challenges\nTravel light\, set up tarps and hammocks\, and build camp furniture\nSafely use an axe and saw to establish an expedition camp\nCook improvised meals such as “roadkill” or “sled dog” stew\nAnd much\, much more!
